In their first game, Moyles Court U9’s started strongly, with some good batting from Finley and Charlie. Evan continued with some excellent shots, but some questionable calling led to three quick run-outs, which proved costly at the conclusion of the game.
In the second innings Moyles Court bowled well. Lincoln showed great improvement, as did several other players in the team, and Park struggled to score runs. Unfortunately a few dropped catches proved costly, and with the ‘Pairs Cricket’ scoring system in place, where each wicket costs the batting team 5 runs, the earlier run-outs meant that despite dominating with bat and ball, Moyles Court narrowly lost a closely fought game by a few runs.
Mr Hosking was extremely pleased with the boy’s attitude and approach to what for many, was their first competitive game of cricket. They displayed great application and the improvement with their bowling and fielding should prove promising for future games.
