The opening game of the U11 cricket season was played in typically overcast and chilly conditions, but it turned out to be a highly entertaining and exciting encounter. The Park School batted first and got off to a good start. Sam and Jack bowled with accuracy, but could not prevent their opening batsmen from reaching 20 before retiring. Harrison and Tommy kept up the good bowling, but it was Freddie who took the first wicket of the game with a beautiful delivery. Park went on to reach 93 from their 12 overs; a challenging target for the visitors.
Moyles Court made a good start with Freddie and Jack opening the batting. Jack played some lovely shots to push the scoring on and when he was joined by Sam the visitors were looking capable of reaching their target. However, following the wicket of Jack, Moyles Court’s run rate started to dwindle and they finished their 12 overs on a very creditable 72, just 21 runs behind.
Man-of-the-Match: Freddie for taking the first wicket of the season and bowling with great accuracy and Jack for hitting the first boundary of the season. Well played boys.
