Y6/5 Tag Rugby 7’s Tournament at The Park School – 12th March

Match report – played at The Park School, Bournemouth

Our first game was against Malmsbury Park School which we won comfortably  7-1 with the tries being shared around. In our second game against The Park School’s B team, again we dominated play and deservedly won 9-6. Our final game in the group stage was against Stourfield A team. This was a very close game which we ended up winning 10-7. In this game we probably played the best tag rugby I have ever seen this U11’s team play. We scored from every restart and made only one handling error throughout the entire game. We ended up topping our group and going through to the knockout stages of the tournament in the main Cup Competition. Our quarter final opponents were St. Josephs School. Again we played really well and made very few mistakes which enabled us to win this game 7-5. Our semi-final opponents were The Park School A team. Unfortunately despite playing some really good rugby we lost this semi-final 9-7.

Despite losing this semi-final, the boy’s should be really proud of themselves by getting so close to the final. They played some absolutely fantastic rugby and only missed out on the final by two mistakes. Proof of how well the whole team played was in the fact that every squad player scored at least one try with Sam Milner-Smith top scoring with 9 tries. Well done to all the players.
