In what was an evenly contested game Moyles Court took an early lead through an angled shot across the penalty area from Adam. Despite opportunities to add to our 1 – 0 lead, we were made to rue lost opportunities when Ballard came from behind to score 2 goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead into half-time.
We had a poor start to the second half by conceding 2 early goals to sloppy defending to go 4 -1 down. However, opportunities were occurring regularly and only poor finishing stopped us from getting back into the game that was until Adam scored again from the penalty spot to bring us back to within 2 goals. But no sooner had we brought the game back, we once again conceded another poor goal. Once again Adam was on hand to bring the score back to 5 – 3.
Unfortunately, we conceded another goal right at the end of the game when the Ballard goalkeeper cleared the ball from his own penalty area, to then see our goalkeeper in attempting to clear the approaching bouncing ball, slice it into his own net. This game could easily have been a draw if we had converted more of the goal scoring opportunities we had, instead we ended up losing 6 – 3.
