U9s Football vs Ballard – 14th November

On a fine autumnal afternoon with the leaves falling around us, the Moyles Court team prepared for what has become a local derby against Ballard. With the away team having previously beaten the home team Moyles wanted to start strong. The team consisted of Ollie, Jack (host), Aaron, Monty (Captain), James, Tom, Harvey, Lucas, Ellis, Noah, Felix, Harry and Charlie. All the players have been on fine form and have firmly consolidated their places in the team through hard work and fantastic team spirit.

The game started out with Moyles pushing forward with a attacking formation. This paid dividends and saw the home team ahead by one in the first ten minutes. A second goal swiftly followed with a defensive error from the Ballard side. Moyles firmly controlled the opening half.

The second half saw a more balanced game, with Ballard testing a very solid Moyles defence. Ballard had some fantastic strikers amongst them and managed to pull back to 2-1. However, Moyles didn’t drop their heads and kept pushing and holding out with some fantastic goal keeping from Harvey and James. The game finished 2-2 after a super effort from outside the box catching the Moyles team off guard. The game finished on a draw after a fantastic game from both sides and again both teams demonstrated fantastic sport personship and brilliant team spirit. Man of the match has to go to James for fantastic defence and attack play leading to two of the Moyles goals. A special mention should be made to Charlie for a fantastic performance in midfield breaking up the attacking play and also creating some lovely passes from the middle of the pitch.

Again a fantastic match and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next match. Well done team!!
