On a very chilly Wednesday January day, a group of 13 students ranging in age groups, were taken to Haldon Forest in Exeter to compete in the ISA South West Regional Cross Country event. This event sees pupils from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, South Wales, Dorset and West Hampshire compete to gain the first ten places in each of the races, to win the opportunity to represent this region at a National event in March.
Although our runners had to deal with cold temperatures and fierce competition, we had five of our pupils finish in the top ten in their races and therefore they qualify for the Nationals. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this event. The course was a difficult one with some challenging hills, and we are so proud of them all for doing their best, cheering on teammates and representing our school with impeccable sporting attitudes and behaviour.
The runners qualifying for the National finals in March were Olivia in Year 4, who finished in 2nd place, Sam in Year 7 who finished in 1st place, Alejandro in Year 8 finished in 10th place, Lea in Year 9 who finished in 6th place and Tom in Year 11, who ran a very long and difficult course in the U20s event, and finished in 8th place.
A huge well done to all involved!
