Moyles Court Sporting Champions!

Jenny is in Year 11 and in her thirteenth and final year as a pupil at Moyles Court School. Jenny is now, very deservedly, Head Girl.

She began working towards her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in January this year and as part of the scheme pupils have to complete a physical aspect of the course and she chose power lifting.

Having started in January, she took part in her first competition in April where she qualified for the British Championships. On the 31st October Jenny proudly became the Sub Junior British Champion in her age and weight category – competing against twenty other girls!

Jenny comments: “I chose powerlifting as my Mum inspired me as she has been power lifting for four years. You have to be very dedicated as need to train three times a week.  I am thrilled to win this tropy after only been training for less than a year. ”

Moyles Court also celebrated success last Wednesday at the Independent School Association (ISA) Southwest Swimming Gala at Sherbourne School.  As a result of winning their heats, Elliott in Year 10 and Rachel in Year 9 have been selected to represent the South West of England at the National Independent Schools Association Swimming Championships in January at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in London.

Mr Milner-Smith, Headmaster adds: “They are wonderful ambassadors for our school and have  competed with great enthusiasm and skill – I am extremely proud of them and what a wonderful opportunity for our swimmers to be competing in London – we wish them both the very best of luck.”
