The students sold delicious homemade shortbread and cakes while others helped to organise a ‘dummy grenade’ throwing competition which brought out the competitive element in staff and students alike. A cheque for £135 will be sent off to the Royal British Legion along with a cardboard poppy signed by students which will be displayed in a field of ‘poppies’ outside the Menin Gate in Ypres.
The fund raising continues with a raffle which will be drawn on 11th November. The prize is a genuine First World Medal donated by Mr Penrose, Head of Boarding.
Headmaster, Greg Meakin adds: “Our weekly History club continues to provide an excellent forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas for our pupils and our ‘Evening with Alice Lisle’ will focus attention on the fascinating heritage we have here at Moyles Court. I am immensely proud of the pupils’ efforts and money raised for the Poppy Appeal.”
