On a drizzly, damp afternoon the U11 rugby team entertained teams from Leehurst Swan and Talbot House in a thoroughly entertaining mini tournament. The opening match against Talbot House was a classic with great running rugby and resilient defence from both teams. Anthony continued his fine start to the season with a very well taken try, following some typically robust work in midfield from Jack. Talbot House hit back with two tries of their own, only for Sam to score a fine try in the corner to bring the scores level. With time running out for both teams, it was Talbot House who managed to conjure up a winning try, to bring a thoroughly competitive and entertaining match to an end.
The second match against Leehurst Swan B was another tense encounter with both teams defending brilliantly. Try scoring opportunities were kept to a minimum, but great work from Archie and Rohan nearly created the opening that Moyles Court were craving. Eventually LHS found a way through the Moyles Court defence and scored the only try of the game to sneak a fine win.
In the final game, Moyles Court competed valiantly against LHS A team, making them work hard for their opportunities. Finlay was having a great game in his first outing for the team and despite losing by three tries to nil, the performance was a very pleasing one.
Jack, for his persistence and great ball carrying skills that created plenty of try scoring opportunities.
