Moyles Court started off extremely brightly and were very quick to gain and maintain control of the ball in midfield. Louis put in an outstanding performance, which was easily his best of the season. The team were very quick to make tackles and countered Ballard with lightning fast pace in numerous areas of the pitch. Amia opened the scoring with an excellent finish into the bottom corner of the goal. Moyles Court built on this early lead and were able to capitalise on this by scoring a further 4 goals before the stroke of half-time, to lead 5-0 into the break. Harrison Hughes provided two goals, including one from an excellently taken penalty which almost took the net off. Joaquin and Rohan contributed to the score line, with the latter finishing superbly with a thunderbolt into the top corner of the net.
Moyles Court were understandably jubilant during the half-time team talk, but understood that they had to see out the game professionally. They continued the second half in the same way as the first and quickly gained possession of the ball. Amia rounded off an awesome display with two second half goals to complete her hat-trick – an outstanding achievement and well deserved. Joaquin picked up his second of the game with a finely taken goal after some superb play by Harrison in midfield. Harrison himself had his would-be third goal unluckily disallowed following a corner kick, as a foul was called in the box – much to Harrison’s annoyance as it denied him a much-deserved hat-trick. Monty, Brendan, Joe and Leo were rock solid at the back, aided by another calm and assured display by our goalkeeper, Tom. Monty in particular showed excellent pace and determination to snuff out any opportunities for a Ballad counter attack. Overall, this will go down as one of the greatest ever Moyles Court performances and every single player today fought well for their team and for their school.
Final score: Ballard 0 – 8 Moyles Court (Amia 3, Harrison 2, Joaquin 2, Rohan 1)
Man of the Match:
Hard to choose just one after such a thrilling team performance…but it surely has to go to
Amia for her brilliant hat-trick today. Louis and Harrison were instrumental in midfield and
covered every single blade of grass on the field, inspiring their team mates in the process.
All three deserve plaudits. Well done, Moyles Court!
