Little Acorns nursery
Nursery school and early years
Little Acorns is a thriving Nursery that provides a friendly and caring environment for three year olds to rising fives.
Little Acorns is positioned in the heart of the New Forest two miles from Ringwood and is situated in rural surroundings. Children are therefore able to explore the grounds, enjoy nature walks, and observe animals in their natural environment - all whilst supervised by qualified staff. A qualified teacher with many years' experience at early years has an overview of the Nursery.
Your child's development
Little Acorns assists the children's development in all areas and positively encourages the children to learn a wide variety of skills through structured activities and play. Play is an important part of a child's academic and social development. It allows children to acquire knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes in a meaningful situation. It also allows children to make informed choices and become confident, independent learners.
Children are encouraged in creative activities as well as a variety of number and language activities.
In number, children will be taught to count, measure and develop basic numerical skills. They will be assisted in completing number worksheets and forming numbers correctly.
At Little Acorns children are introduced to the characters of Jolly Phonics, which helps the children progress to basic reading skills. When ready the children are given reading words and then a reading book. These are taken home to encourage parents to play an active part in their child's learning.
Topics are introduced termly to the children at Little Acorns and take into consideration all areas of learning.
