Ofsted reports on “A family environment”, boarding at Moyles Court


Moyles Court SchoolMoyles Court School was inspected by Ofsted for its boarding provision on 3rd-5th November, 2009. About a third of all Moyles Court pupils board, the provision rated by Ofsted as “strong”. Ofsted comments “boarders enjoy their boarding experience where they feel happy and safe.” In the report the resident housemaster supported by his team of housemothers and nurses are praised, “their dedication to the boarders shines through.” Pupils may board at Moyles Court from Year 3 upwards. There are separate boys’ and girls’ accommodation described by Ofsted as “warm and welcoming” with communal areas for meals and socialising, sports hall, tennis courts and sports fields all set in 14 acres of stunning grounds. The pastoral care given to boarders is noted as a strong feature of the school in Ofsted’s report; “the good behaviour of boarders and low level of incidents are indicative of happy children”. Last summer the school increased boarding capacity by 20% to meet demand. Headmaster Mr Meakin, who has worked in boarding schools for most of his career comments “Moyles Court is a small and friendly school with traditional family values, which our day and boarding pupils benefit from. These values are core to preparing children for a successful and happy future as adults.
