Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition

Year 10 pupils have successfully completed their training and assessment weekends for the Bronze Award this term after weeks of training. Four teams trekked tens of kilometers, camping out in the beautiful coastal hills of the Isle of Purbeck. Navigating by map and compass, relying on the food and equipment they planned and packed for the two weekends involved, the students learned important lessons in independence, teamwork skills and self-sufficiency (more below photograph).

The four teams were also able to appreciate the beauty of this region of Dorset and the pleasure of companionship in the great outdoors. A great physical challenge with a well-deserved sense of satisfaction and achievement at the end. Many thanks to Mr Towler, Miss Harris and Nigel for helping the pupils make a success of their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze expedition.
